Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT chamber

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a safe, clinically proven treatment in which you are entirely enclosed in a pressurized chamber and breathes 100% oxygen. The treatment quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen into the bloodstream. This increases oxygenation in compromised tissues, which assists in the healing of wounds and is effective in fighting certain types of infections. HBOT also stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and improves circulation.

Treatments are typically administered daily, with sessions lasting about 2.5 hours from time of arrival to departure. The number of treatments a patient receives will depend on his or her individual diagnosis, with an average of 30 treatments.

At this time our clinic will use Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat:

  • Wagner Grade 3 Diabetic Foot Ulcers
  • Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis
  • Soft Tissue Radionecrosis and Osteoradionecrosis
  • Radiation Induced Cystitis
  • Compromised Skin Grafts and Flaps
  • Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What will I feel when I’m in the chamber?
A: Generally, you will not feel any difference. However, some patients may experience a sensation of fullness in the ears, similar to what you feel when flying in an airplane. You will be educated on this situation and how to correct it prior to treatment.

Q: How will I be able to communicate if I need something while in the chamber?
A: There is a two-way speaker system that will allow you to easily communicate with the chamber technician at all times.

Q: What can I do while I’m inside the chamber?
A: There is a TV attached to the top of the chamber that allows you to watch movies and shows, and listen to music. Otherwise, you can just relax and sleep.

Q: How do I prepare for my treatment?
A: You must wear 100% cotton scrubs or a patient gown that will be provided for you. You will have your own private dressing room and locker to store your belongings in while you are here. No personal items are allowed in the chamber.
