In collaboration with St. Vincent Rehabilitation Institute, St. Vincent Hospital for Women & Children offers an acute inpatient pediatric rehabilitation program on the Pediatric Unit.
Children ages 15 and younger are assessed to determine which inpatient rehabilitation location – the Pediatrics Unit or the Rehabilitation Institute - best meet the patient/family needs for rehabilitation.
The pediatric program is designed to meet the needs of pediatric patients who have, or may have, temporary or permanent disabilities. It allows children who need rehabilitation services to remain close to home and family - allowing for less disruption in the daily activities of parents.
Pediatric rehabilitation team members include:
- Pediatric hospitalist or your child's pediatrician
- Child Life Services
- Physiatrist who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech therapists
- Pediatric nurses
- Case management
- Pastoral care
Our inpatient rehabilitation programs have been accredited since 1986 by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). In 2009 we extended that accreditation to include inpatient rehab programs for adult, child and adolescent brain injury.
